After reading many articles on oil “pulling” it got me curious and I got into it over a year ago. Although I don’t do it religiously, I still feel the benefits whenever I do it.
Oil “pulling” is an ancient Ayruveda dental care method. It involves nothing more than oil in your mouth for a certain amount of time. The principle of “oil pulling” is that it reduces the amount of harmful bacteria in the mouth and the swishing with the oil also helps “pull” toxins from your system as you swish the oil through your teeth and gums. Plaque is caused by bacteria, and, although having some sort of plaque can be normal, having an excessive amount of it can cause bad breath, yellow teeth, gum inflammation, gingivitis, and cavities.
