Apple Pie Spice Recipe

I just completely forgot about this post. I sometimes start writing about a subject and it just sits there as I completely forgot about it. So the week of Thanksgiving, my oldest son had a Friendsgiving to attend and he needed to bring an apple pie. We hadn’t had an apple in a very long time. I had never made one. Well, I had never made a pie…from scratch. One of the ingredient the apple pie recipe required was apple pie spice which I didn’t have. However, I had all ingredients to make it at home.

The spice could be used to spice up coffee or tea, granola, to baking pies, cookies, and even oatmeal. And spices are so good for you. It’s so simple to make and keep on hand by storing in a small airtight container.

Addapinch just had the right blend for me to use. Here’s how  to make the apple pie spice blend.

Apple Pie Spice
It serves ½ cup
  • ¼ cup of ground cinnamon - i ground my own cinnamon in a coffee grinder
  • 1 tsp of ground allspice
  • 1 tsp of ground ginger
  • 2 tsp of ground nutmeg
  1. Mix all spices together in a bowl and store in an airtight container
***Use organic ingredients whenever possible***
