Chromium

Chromium is a trace of mineral that was discovered in the body in the 1950s. It is an important regulator of blood sugar and has been used successfully  in the control and treatment of diabetes. It is involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats and is used in the production of insulin in the body. High levels of sugars in the diet can cause chromium to be excreted through the kidneys. So it is important to get enough in your diet if you eat sugary foods. The incidence of diabetes and heart disease increases with increased levels of chromium in the body.
